SICILY. Gela. Circa 425-420 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 17.18 g, 6 h). ΓΕΛΩΙΟ[Ν] Nike driving quadriga moving slowly to the right, holding the reins with both hands; above, laurel wreath. Rev. Forepart of the river-god Gelas, in the form of a man-headed bull, to right; to right, heron standing right; all within shallow circular incuse. HGC 2, 350 (same dies). Jenkins, Gela, Group VII, 457 (O85/R173). SNG Lockett 775 (same dies). Beautifully toned. Some horn silver and with minor traces of overstriking on the obverse and a die break on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
